Phone Sex
Surprise... Surfers are Callers! - republish freely.
So
you own free sites and paysites but you're not marketing your own
phone sex lines... big mistake! I've taken the pulse and am happy to
report that phone sex is alive and well - especially for adult site
owners!
Please allow me to
(re?)introduce you to successful phone sex marketing on the
internet. The truth is that the net provides a virtually untapped
marketplace for the promotion of phone sex numbers. People are
surfing in greater numbers than they are buying mens magazines and
that is your opportunity. The desire by surfers for phone sex is
unquenched because most net marketers are under the false belief
that people are too lazy to pick up the phone or that people are
more interested in live cams.
Many surfers do flock
to live cams and videos after surfing your picture galleries but
you're probably not offering them any other options. In your free
areas there is an especially unique opportunity to offer a
non-competing revenue machine: phone sex. After all, success on the
adult internet is purely a numbers game. Traffic/Conversion =
Revenue. If you're savvy than you have already developed a
successful formula that converts free surfers into paying customers
at your sites or affiliate sites. If you're in the zone of
converting 1:200-1:500 then you have a money machine that simply
needs more traffic. If you convert less than 1:500-1:1000 then
you're still making money... but here's the thing:
Whether you convert
great or not-so-great take a look at the actual numbers. It is
obviously your goal to maximize revenues no matter which end of the
spectrum you convert at. If you have a non-buying CAPTIVE audience
of thousands daily than you owe it to yourself to throw something
else at all of those consumers: make it phone sex!
I
like to use myself as an example because that's only fair. I have a
paysite with 6 pages of free sample pics and the goal is to sell
memberships, that's it. It's a niche big boob paysite that has been
online for several years. I make money selling memberships to my
paysite and I also make money referring traffic to Busty-Amateurs
because I think the surfers should have another big-boob paysite
option in case they think my site sucks. This site also markets a
niche boob phone sex line. I make more money from a small text and
graphical plug on each site page for a JUGS phone sex line than I do
from busty-amateurs and selling my own memberships. Good, bad or
indifferent the numbers simply don't lie.
Hopefully by now I have
aroused your curiousity because now I'm ready to share some numbers
and an introduction to the facts about phone sex! In this article we
will discuss the conversion, revenue, and residual income associated
with phone sex. In future articles I will delve further into the net
marketing strategies and secrets, how service bureaus function,
different types of phone sex lines, how to choose a provider that is
right for you... and many other useful topics.
CONVERSIONS... in our
businesses we thrive and go out of business by these numbers.
Hopefully you have a forumla that works on your sites to convert
surfers into paying customers. Continue to work and improve on that
because that is the foundation of every adult website; unless and
until someday when you make more money marketing phone sex than you
do with anything else. This is VERY rare, but I do it every
day.
Phone sex lines have
conversion figures just like paysites do - they are based on gross
phone calls. This figure is extremely important and be sure that if
you pick a service bureau someday that they provide you gross call
counts, this is the only way to guage their performance. A
respectible conversion target to aim for is 10% of gross calls
converting into billable calls. So, for every 100 calls that you
generate you should set a goal of 10 billable calls. Conversions on
phone sex vary based upon quality of traffic, what type of phone sex
line you send business to, and lastly how the quality of the
recording induces billable calls. If you have an asian site you
should target an asian phone sex line, etc. Have a lot of variety in
your traffic? Target a hardcore anything goes line and not a niche
line.
Before my current
service bureau partnership I had phone sex lines through another
major bureau. I will always have these lines because one never wants
to lose the residual callers that you build up over time. However,
those lines aren't my marketing focus for one main reason:
conversions. My conversion on billable toll-free phone sex calls
averages about 5-7% on gross calls after one year of marketing the
lines. My new lines through partnership converted over 8% during my
first full month of newly marketing them. Conversions get much
better than this. Our average program client converts 10% or better
and I have one client that has converted 27% of gross calls month to
date and finished out last month with a 28% conversion - awesome!
Not impossible, not easy to achieve, just a hugely successful client
example.
REVENUE... Phone sex
represents an excellent webmaster revenue opportunity! I don't
believe in smoke and mirrors - if you don't have a niche site with
at least a moderate amount of targeted traffic or a general site
with tons of untargeted traffic then you won't make great money. I
won't say that small traffic sites don't make money but as a rule of
thumb this is true. I have a small trannie free site that gets only
300+- visitors daily and month to date it has converted 24% of it's
gross calls so by the end of the month this small site will make me
a couple hundred dollars from it's subtle phone sex
promotion.
When you look at
revenue you must consider gross calls, conversions and average hold
times. Hold time is the average length of your call and since
callers are billed by the minute this impacts how much your payout
is going to be. High hold times are achieved when a service bureau
trains their talent properly. We have a goal at our bureau of
exceeding 10 minute average hold times and believe that is a
reasonable goal for everyone. In February my client that converted
28% of his gross calls also had an average hold time of over 12
minutes. That's excellent! Based upon our payout of $1.50 per minute
that averaged him $18.00 per call in comissions.
We
like to be conservative and set this goal for our clients: 10%
conversion and 10 minute average hold time. This means that the
average call is worth $15 to you and that every 100 gross calls is
worth about $150. If you had a 7% conversion and an 8 minute average
hold time then you would earn just $84 on that same 100 gross calls.
This is evidence that performace of your service bureau is
important! This determines how you get paid for your hard work. Of
course if your line gets junk traffic you might convert like this
anywhere. However with regard to traffic quality I find it important
to note that even traffic from TGP's and Pic Posts can generate good
revenue if you know how to do it right (marketing strategies that I
share with my clients)... :o)
So
what's it all worth. Well, I suppose if you generated 10 calls daily
and that makes for 1 billable call: that's $15 per day or $450 per
month. How many $450 comission checks do you get each month? If you
drive a 10k, 20k or more per day in traffic that $450 in comissions
could be thousands instead. Not a bad revenue enhancer if you have
other streams of revenue. All of this from a small but dilligent
marketing effort that is low bandwidth, low overhead and in our
opinion does not compete for traffic with the rest of your
offerings. Add your phone sex line as a highlight in your members
area and experience even more revenue.
RESIDUALS... You get
residual income from your paysite and affiliate program subscribers.
Suprise! Phone sex has great residuals. People that patronize phone
sex are quite loyal when satisfied and many continue to call for
months and even years with great frequency. That $15 comission on a
caller might repeat itself once a month, four times per month, it's
hard to predict. One thing IS certain: commit to phone sex marketing
for a long time and you will earn much repeat business. For this
reason, it is important that you chose a service bureau that is
committed to 100% customer satisfaction and not one that treats your
customers like a number. Look for a service bureau that keeps a
caller history and can connect callers to girls they have spoken
with in the past (we do this). Phone sex callers often build
relationships with our "home-girls". Market phone sex lines for an
extended period of time and one day if you stopped marketing you
would continue to see revenue on your line(s) for a long time
afterwards.
FINAL THOUGHTS...
Evaluate whether or not marketing phone sex lines on your adult

There are respectable amounts of money to be made by comitted
webmasters. There's no such thing as easy money so quit looking!
When webmasters give an equal effort to promoting their own phone
sex line they are sometimes suprised that the revenue generated can
be comperable to their most successful pay-site affiliation or even
better.
